LIBRARIES
The "Guglielmo De Angelis d’Ossat" Library of the Department of History, Design and Restoration of Architecture was established in 1983 from the merger of the book collections of the former Institutes of History of Architecture and Fundamentals of Architecture at the University of Rome “La Sapienza.”
Currently, the library’s collection consists of about 36,500 volumes and 468 periodicals, of which 435 are current. The library holds the most important encyclopedias and major specialized dictionaries (EI, EUA, DAU, ThB, EAA, DBI, Moroni, etc.).
There is a large section dedicated to the urban and architectural history of Rome, and it houses the most important topographical maps of Rome and Lazio. Rich collections are reserved for monographs on architects, biographies, architectural and art treatises, drawing collections, and more.
The section on restoration history is extensive and well-maintained (including original or reproduced hard-to-find texts), as well as conservation techniques.
The collection of theses and doctoral dissertations is continuously growing. Catalogs are available by author, subject, topographical, and periodicals. Photocopies in A4 and A3 format are possible. The library is equipped with devices for reading and printing microfiches and microfilms in 16mm and 35mm (both positives and negatives).
The library is located at the Faculty of Architecture, Piazza Borghese 9, 00186 Rome, 1st floor.
